Police: Mother accidentally runs over daughter with U-Haul

With her daughter behind the truck, a mother put the U-Haul in reverse instead of drive, and accidentally hit the accelerator instead of brake, hitting her daughter.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman is now dead after her mother accidentally ran her over with a U-Haul truck, police say.

On Friday at about 8 p.m., a family was moving into a northeast-side house in the 200 block of Remount Drive. They had rented a U-Haul truck to move furniture into the home.

While in the driveway, a 25-year-old woman asked her mother to move the truck forward so she could pull out the loading ramp. The woman was standing behind the truck to help guide her mother.

The mother put the truck into reverse instead of drive, according to authorities. She then accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake, causing her to run over her daughter by accident.

The daughter was taken to the hospital where she was ultimately pronounced dead.

Police say there are no criminal charges in this case.
