Things got really chaotic in Los Angeles on Tuesday (April 8) after a hit-and-run crash on the 134 Freeway sparked a full-on manhunt — and ended with police shooting the wife of famous rock star.
Things escalated fast
It all kicked off around 3:25 PM PT when three suspects reportedly fled the scene of a multi-car freeway crash and disappeared into the Eagle Rock neighborhood, triggering a major search effort from the California Highway Patrol and LAPD.
During the search, officers came across a woman outside a home who was allegedly armed with a handgun. That woman? None other than 51-year-old Jillian Shriner, author and longtime wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner.

Although Jillian had no connection to the hit-and-run, things escalated fast.
According to police, she refused to drop the weapon after being asked ”numerous times” and allegedly pointed it at officers — prompting them to open fire. She was hit in the shoulder and reportedly retreated back into the house.
Moments later, she surrendered alongside the family’s babysitter and was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
Recovered a 9mm handgun
Shriner was taken into custody roughly an hour later and booked on suspicion of attempted murder. Inside the home, police say they recovered a 9mm handgun.
According to the LAPD, she allegedly ignored repeated commands to drop her handgun and pointed it at officers, prompting their response. However, LAPD has clarified she was not involved in the original freeway crash.

Meanwhile, back to the actual crash — it was a wild one. One of the suspects was allegedly arrested wearing only underwear after trying to hide out by swimming in someone’s backyard pool and watering their plants.
That man is now facing felony hit-and-run charges. Two other suspects — both believed to be men — are still on the run
A woman injured in the freeway crash was hospitalized with moderate injuries. Thankfully, no officers or other civilians were harmed during the entire ordeal.
Lauren is known for penning two bestselling memoirs: Some Girls: My Life in a Harem (2010) and Everything You Ever Wanted (2015), both of which earned her critical acclaim.
Her husband, Scott Shriner, plays bass for the iconic Los Angeles rock band Weezer. The group skyrocketed to fame with their 1994 debut — often called the “Blue Album” — featuring hits like “Buddy Holly” and “Say It Ain’t So.”
Today, the they have sold 10 million albums in the United States and more than 35 million worldwide. Shriner came on board in the early 2000s, solidifying his place in the band’s evolving lineup. He is the band’s longest serving bass guitarist.
